Color is a complex subject which can be studied in great depth. In fact, there are college degree programs available in color science. This book attempts to simplify the subject of color and provide an understanding of fundamental color principles.

Although the information in this book could be valuable for anyone who works with color, it is intended primarily for those in the graphic arts industry who must make informed judgments during the color reproduction process.

Until recently, jobs in the graphic arts industry were

highly specialized and color expertise was left to a small group of skilled tradesmen. As electronic publishing continues to evolve, more and more knowledge of color issues is required by all those involved in the reproduction process, from designers to art directors, to service bureau personnel, prepress personnel and press operators. Working with color can be tricky. A little color knowledge can prevent a lot of frustrationùand expense.
